The Newberry Award is given each year to the author who makes the most distinguished contribution to children’s literature for the year. The award this year went to Kate DiCamillo for her book Flora and Ulysses. The story is about an unlikely friendship between a cynical young girl and a squirrel. After an accident, Ulysses the squirrel acquires super powers and the adventures begin. Age Range: 8 – 12.
